Only when we are brave enough to explore the darkness will we discover the infinite power of our light.
- Brene Brown
Therapy takes courage and I greatly appreciate that in each and every client. Each moment when we find the light amidst the darkness pushes us towards healing and mental fitness. I specialize in anxiety, grief and trauma while using approaches like Mindful Self Compassion, Narrative theory, Worden's Four Tasks of Mourning and EMDR.
As a therapist, I focus on building self-compassion and finding connection and intimacy with those close to you. Hope, courage, and self compassion are three values I want you to walk away with. A vision for the future is necessary for the unhealthy patterns in life to change. But we cannot escape the reality of today and facing that reality takes courage. Along the way failure is possible and learning to be self compassionate is essential. As you journey through this change, it is not about perfection, but about the pursuit.
Couple's therapy focuses on the relationship as the client. I specialize in pre-marital and couple's enrichment. I assess for strengths and areas of improvement while building a safe and secure connection. Hurt and pain can be apart of the process but I hope to help find healing. That can happen by identifying unhealthy patterns and replacing them with healthy interactions.
Athletes, maybe you or someone you know struggles with sports performance anxiety, depression from season ending injury, or unhealthy coping mechanisms like addiction. As a former collegiate athlete and current sports enthusiast, there are complexities that an athlete experiences: pressures of in-game performance, managing high stress, season or career ending injuries, or life transitions after your sports career ends. All of these can produce intense anxiety, grief/loss and addiction which can cause shameful, intrusive thought patterns. I focus on combating shame by expanding healthy coping strategies, increasing self kindness, and understanding family patterns.
This specialty therapy is geared toward executives, entrepreneurs, and high pressured professionals. Whether you are a small business owner or the CEO of a Fortune 500 company, it is highly likely that at times, you experience anger, anxiety, loneliness, depression or high levels of stress. In addition, other issues are more unique to professionals, such as imposter syndrome, fear of losing everything, alienation, and even guilt over your own success. One of the main objectives of therapy for working professionals is to teach you how to stress less so you can live more. You'll learn valuable tools to help you find ease in your daily routine, create the space you need for your personal and family life, and bring a greater degree of satisfaction to your work world.
